At the meeting, the board reviewed and approved a total of three agenda items, including: △ a proposal to contribute funds to the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries to revitalize the local economy; △ a proposal to contribute funds to support partner companies’ employee welfare and the adoption of ESG management in 2026; and △ a proposal to set a record date for determining eligible shareholders for an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. In particular, Gangwon Land decided to contribute 3.7 billion won to the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises and the Agricultural and Fisheries Sectors to establish a sustainable economic foundation in the Gangwon region—including areas undergoing coal industry transition—and to support corporate growth and relocation to the region.
This contribution builds upon the existing “Next Unicorn Project,” expanding both the scale of support and the scope of the initiative. It will provide full-cycle growth support and facilitate the relocation of new businesses for companies in coal industry transition regions and the Gangwon region. Of the 3.7 billion won contribution, 3.0 billion won will be allocated to the business relocation project for coal industry transition regions, and 700 million won will be used for the mutually beneficial SME support project.
Previously, Gangwon Land had been implementing the “Next Unicorn Project” from 2019 to 2025 to diversify the industrial ecosystem and create jobs in coal industry transition regions. During this period, it selected a total of 24 companies and has worked to foster a new industrial ecosystem and attract businesses to these regions, with 12 of those companies having already completed their relocation.
Gangwon Land has also decided to contribute 1.066 billion won in 2026 to support the improvement of employee benefits and the adoption of ESG management practices among its partner companies.
These funds will be used to improve the welfare and working conditions of approximately 1,400 employees at partner companies. Key support measures include a performance-sharing bonus of 500,000 won per person; comprehensive health checkups for employees at 300,000 won per person; and vacation support for employees in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization at 100,000 won per person. The funds will also be used to support the adoption and expansion of ESG management practices among partner companies.
Meanwhile, at the board meeting held that day, a proposal to set the record date for determining eligible shareholders for the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders was also approved.
