[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] Automotive parts specialist SJG SEJONG CO.,LTD.(033530)is establishing a new subsidiary in the Savannah area of Georgia, U.S., and will invest 15 billion won to build a local manufacturing plant.

SJG SEJONG CO.,LTD. announced on the 6th that it will establish a new production hub in the Bloomingdale area of Chatham County, near Savannah, Georgia.
The new plant is located a 20-minute drive from “HyundaiMotor Group Meta Plant America (HMGMA),” HyundaiMotor Group’s dedicated electric vehicle plant. In line with the recent trend of expanding hybrid vehicle production at HMGMA, the company plans to maximize logistics efficiency, enhance local supply capabilities, and solidify its competitiveness in the North American market.
Currently, SJG SEJONG CO.,LTD. operates production facilities in two locations—Alabama and Georgia—and has been supplying key components to HyundaiMotor and KIA CORPORATION’s local plants, respectively. The new Savannah plant will serve as a forward base dedicated to supporting the expansion of HyundaiMotor and KIA CORPORATION’s hybrid lineups.
The new plant will cover a total area of 5,115 pyeong and consist of a production line (1,800 pyeong), a materials warehouse (2,200 pyeong), and an office building. SJG SEJONG CO.,LTD. has minimized land acquisition costs and initial risks by opting for a 10-year long-term lease of a building that has already received occupancy approval.
The company plans to complete the installation of equipment and the construction by March of next year, and then begin full-scale mass production of the initial batch starting in August of the same year.
