ASAC is a leading awards program in the fields of safety, health, and the environment that the Land Transport Authority of Singapore has administered since 1999. Each year, it selects contractors and projects that have contributed to safe work practices, worker welfare, and the protection of citizens and the environment. This year, a total of 90 awards across 18 categories were presented to 63 organizations that demonstrated outstanding performance in workplace safety, health, and environmental management.
At this year’s ASAC, the CR108 project won a total of three awards: the Excellence in Construction Safety Award, the Accident-Free Recognition Award, and the Best Safety Improvement Contractor Award. Chan & Chan, a subcontractor involved in the traffic bypass road, also received the Subcontractor Safety Recognition Award. Winning four awards in the same project, including those from subcontractors, marks the highest number of awards won by any entity in Singapore this year.
According to the company, the CR108 project has maintained a record of 2,000 days—or 8 million hours—without a work-related injury since construction began in 2021. DaewooEngineering&Construction is promoting two-way safety communication centered on TBM (Toolbox Meetings), strengthening safety leadership among supervisors, implementing focused management of high-risk tasks, and taking immediate action to address and improve on-site hazards.
A DaewooEngineering&Construction official stated, “From the outset of construction, the CR108 project has prioritized establishing a site-centered safety culture and preventing serious accidents, and has carried out systematic HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) management activities.” The official added, “We plan to continue pursuing fundamental improvements to risk factors through technological innovation and the ongoing implementation of our unique safety culture, ‘CLEAR.’”
Meanwhile, CLEAR is a safety culture campaign centered on five core values: dedication to safety, two-way communication among team members, elimination of hazards, appreciation for safe behavior, and improving relationships.
