[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] SamsungElectronics is launching a digital collection that allows users to view 30 iconic pieces from the British Museum’s collection on their TVs. The collection features works by leading 19th-century British landscape painters, including John Constable and Joseph Mallord William Turner, in 4K high definition.

SamsungElectronics announced on the 7th that it will release the “British Museum Collection” on “Samsung Art Store,” an art subscription service exclusive to Samsung TVs.

This collection includes works by John Constable, a master of British landscape painting, such as “Will Rott’s Cottage” and “The Mill at Fisherton.” These works meticulously capture the British countryside and the changing skies and weather.

Viewers can also enjoy Turner’s “The Storm (Shipwreck)” and “The Colosseum, Rome,” known for their use of light and color in landscape painting. The collection is curated to allow viewers to enjoy a variety of works on their TV screens, ranging from storm-tossed seas to cityscapes of Venice, Rome, and Zurich.

These works are available across the entire Samsung Art TV lineup, including the OLED SH95 model released this year, as well as The Frame, The Frame Pro, Micro RGB, and Neo QLED.

SamsungElectronics has applied anti-glare technology to the screen surface to ensure the artworks are displayed clearly even under bright sunlight or indoor lighting. This technology works by dispersing light in various angles and directions to reduce reflections on the screen.

This collaboration is based on a partnership between SamsungElectronics and the British Museum. SamsungElectronics is participating as an official corporate partner in the special exhibition “Korea: A 2,000-Year Journey of Creativity,” which opened at the British Museum on the 1st. The exhibition runs through January 31 of next year.

Samsung Art Store collaborates with over 80 museums, institutions, and artists—including the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Tate—to offer more than 5,000 artworks. Last December, in collaboration with the National Museum of Korea, it unveiled the “Lee Kun-Hee Collection” and made 20 representative Korean works available for free.

Lee Gwi-ho, Vice President of SamsungElectronics’ Visual Display Business Division, said, “We are striving to ensure that more Samsung TV users can easily access world-class works of art.”

Lisa San Martín, Director of Museum Business at the British Museum, said, “Visitors around the world can now enjoy the museum’s world-class collection from the comfort of their own homes,” adding, “We hope this will be an opportunity to reconnect with familiar masterpieces and discover new works.”
