[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] Viewership ratings rose as “Dating Expert” Kim So-hyun made a direct move on Choo Young-woo.
According to Nielsen Korea on the 7th, the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama “Love Doctor,” which aired on the 6th, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 2.4% and a peak per-minute rating of 2.6%. This marks a 0.6% increase from the 1.8% rating of the first episode.
On that day, Im Yu-jin (played by Kim So-hyun) visited Park Min-jae (played by Moon Hee-jun) once again. She asked for his help with the research proposal required to enter graduate school in mechanical engineering. Park Min-jae was puzzled as to why Im Yu-jin—who had consistently ranked first in her class in the Department of Fashion Design—was suddenly trying to switch to a completely different major. When Im Yu-jin explained that the major didn’t suit her and she had realized she lacked talent for it, Park Min-jae asked her in return, “What will you do if it turns out you don’t have a talent for mechanical engineering either?” Feeling that Park Min-jae was trivializing the choice she had worked so hard to make, Im Yu-jin finally gave him a sharp retort.
Their relationship began to fray. When Park Min-jae asked if she had a boyfriend, Im Yu-jin harbored a strange sense of anticipation. Thinking it was a blind date with him, she went with a flutter in her heart, only to find it was a gathering to meet his lab colleagues. Unable to hide her disappointment, she realized she had built up expectations without even realizing it. Then, another commotion ensued. Im Yu-jin went on a lab tour with Park Min-jae’s colleagues, but, egged on by those around her to “test it out,” she swung a baseball bat with all her might at a robot. The robot was destroyed, and the lab instantly descended into chaos. Faced with the chaotic scene, Park Min-jae exploded in frustration, while Im Yu-jin, consumed by self-reproach, eventually burst into tears.
Nevertheless, Im Yu-jin’s efforts to gain admission to the graduate program in mechanical engineering continued. Professor Ahn Jae-hong (played by Lee Chang-hoon), after reading an email from Im Yu-jin—a graduate of the Department of Apparel Design—began to take an interest. He and Park Min-jae visited Professor Kang Mi-ran (played by Ryu Gyeong-in) in the Department of Apparel Design to ask about Im Yu-jin, and Professor Kang—who still harbored ill feelings toward her—spilled the beans about her. However, the more he listened, the more Park Min-jae sensed something was off, so he went to see Im Yu-jin’s friend Jeong Su-bin (played by Park Ha-rang), who had been the victim of the incident. There, he learned the backstory behind the past incident and the real reason why Im Yu-jin had no choice but to give up on enrolling in the Department of Apparel Design. Meanwhile, Im Yu-jin submitted her application to the graduate program in mechanical engineering and took the exam alongside another applicant, Kim Se-jin (played by Im Jin-hyo), a student in the electrical engineering department at a prestigious university. As Professor Ahn struggled with how to grade Im Yu-jin’s exam paper, Park Min-jae cautiously emphasized her potential. As a result, Im Yu-jin was ultimately accepted and was set to make a fresh start as a colleague in the robotics lab.
At Im Yu-jin’s welcome party, not only her lab colleagues but also Park Min-jae and Cha Seo-hyun (played by Han Do-i) gathered together. Im Yu-jin also expressed her determination to work hard as she drained her glass. After the party ended, Park Min-jae got into a taxi with the intoxicated Im Yu-jin to take her home. From her wildly excited state—dancing and singing—to the moment she suddenly passed out, Im Yu-jin’s quirky and endearing behavior brought a smile to his face before he knew it.
On the way home, Im Yu-jin, who had been staggering, suddenly vanished, and Park Min-jae set out to find her, weaving through the dark alleyways. The moment he finally found her, Im Yu-jin grabbed the hem of Park Min-jae’s shirt, whispered, “If you don’t want this, tell me now,” and leaned in as if to kiss him. As Im Yu-jin slowly counted down, Park Min-jae looked down at her with a flustered expression. When their eyes met again, Im Yu-jin kissed him without hesitation—a moment that set hearts racing and raised expectations for the unpredictable twists and turns in their relationship.
ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama *Love Doctor* follows Min-jae, a doctoral student who was a high school swimmer but lost one leg to illness, and Yoo-jin, a master’s student who, after losing her sense of direction, has embarked on a new path. It is a spicy, bitter, and sweet romance between two young people that blossoms in a robotics lab. The series is also drawing attention as the final work of the late director Ahn Pan-seok, known for directing “White Tower,” “Secret Affair,” “Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food,” “Spring Night,” and “Graduation.” It airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. on ENA.
