GS Engineering & Construction Corp’s ‘Xi’ Takes Steps to Lower Digital Barriers for Senior Residents
Training Session Held on Using Zai’s Integrated Residential Services App, “Zai Home”
Focusing on Three Residential Complexes with a High Proportion of Senior Residents
Step-by-Step Guidance: From App Installation and Sign-Up to Using Key Features
[E-Daily Reporter Ham Ji-Hyun ] GS Construction ( GS Engineering & Construction Corp(006360)) announced on the 16th that it has recently taken steps to lower the barriers to digital adoption for senior residents. Recognizing that senior residents—who spend a significant amount of time at home but have relatively lower digital literacy compared to the digital generation—have a demand for various cutting-edge digital residential services but often fail to fully utilize them due to a lack of adequate guidance, the company launched a customized program specifically designed for seniors. (Photo courtesy of GS Engineering & Construction Corp) GS Engineering & Construction Corp selected three Xi apartment complexes with a high proportion of senior residents and conducted the “Xi Senior Onboarding” program—training on how to use “Xi Home,” the integrated residential service app for the Xi brand—for approximately 500 senior residents.
“Xi Home” is GS Engineering & Construction Corp.’s integrated residential service app for the Xi brand, providing a wide range of daily residential services—including smart home control for managing home electronics remotely, as well as access to common entrances, visitor vehicle registration, and community facility reservations—all on a single platform.
During this on-site training period, GS Engineering & Construction Corp stationed staff at the site to provide personalized, one-on-one assistance to senior residents, explaining key functions frequently used in daily life—from app installation and account registration to linking their unit, accessing the main entrance, registering visiting vehicles, and using community facilities.
Starting this year, GS Engineering & Construction Corp plans to expand its “Senior Onboarding” training program, taking into account the specific needs and operational conditions of each complex. For new complexes, training will be provided during the initial move-in period and when community facilities open; for existing complexes, it will be tailored based on the proportion of senior residents and customer demand. Additionally, to improve digital accessibility for senior residents, the company plans to create a “Digital Friendly” user environment featuring features such as “Large Text Mode,” “Easy-to-Use Mode,” and “Voice Guidance” that make it easier for seniors to use the system.
A GS Engineering & Construction Corp official stated, “Going forward, we plan to expand the customer experience beyond digital usage support—such as senior concierge services, family accompaniment services, and community small groups—to encompass all aspects of our senior customers’ daily lives,” adding, “We will continue to explore ways to ensure that Xi adapts to the lives of seniors, rather than requiring senior customers to adapt to digital services.”
