[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] HyundaiMotorAutoEver ( HyundaiAutoever(307950)) will invest 114.6 billion won to participate in HyundaiMotor Group’s artificial intelligence (AI) computing infrastructure business. Based at the Saemangeum AI Data Center, the company will provide graphics processing units (GPUs) and cloud services to support the group’s AI transformation (AX).
HyundaiAutoever announced in a regulatory filing that it held a board meeting on the 30th and decided to invest 114.608 billion won in a newly established joint venture, “HMG AI Factory” (tentative name). The final number of shares acquired will be 1,146,080, resulting in a 26% ownership stake. The investment amount represents 6.1% of the company’s consolidated equity as of the end of last year. [Breaking News] HyundaiAutoever Reports 2Q Net Profit of 69.59 Billion Won… Up 16.5% Year-Over-Year HMG AI Factory is a GPU service company scheduled to be established this November. It will build and operate AI computing infrastructure, including GPUs, at the Saemangeum AI Data Center and pursue GPUaaS and cloud computing businesses by providing necessary computing resources as a service. GPUaaS is a service that allows customers to use computing resources as needed, rather than purchasing and managing GPUs directly.
HyundaiAutoever plans to make capital contributions in six installments from this year through 2031. The joint venture is expected to be incorporated as an affiliate following the capital contribution. Until the Saemangeum AI Data Center is completed, the business will be conducted from other locations.
HyundaiAutoever will contribute its accumulated IT and software technologies, as well as its capabilities in managing high-performance computing resources, to the Group’s AI business. The Saemangeum AI Data Center is expected to be used to train and validate autonomous driving algorithms and robot behavior models, as well as to support research and development activities such as vehicle design and virtual crash testing.
HyundaiMotor Group will establish separate entities this November—one for data center construction and infrastructure development, and another for GPU services. The group intends to enhance business expertise by dividing responsibilities for facility construction from the operation of computing resources and software.
This investment is part of the HyundaiMotor Group’s approximately 9 trillion won “Saemangeum AI Valley” initiative, which integrates an AI data center, a robotics manufacturing cluster, solar power generation, and water electrolysis plants. Construction of the AI data center is scheduled to begin in March 2027, with the goal of launching full-scale operations in early 2030.
