[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] Jang Deok-hyun, President of SamsungElectroMechanics, stated that the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry is still in its early stages and urged the company to seize the growth opportunities arising in its core businesses—such as multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) and package substrates—through decisive execution. He also emphasized the need to fundamentally transform the way employees work by utilizing AI agents tailored to each employee’s specific tasks.

(Photo courtesy of SamsungElectroMechanics) SamsungElectroMechanics announced that it held a ceremony on the 2nd at its Suwon campus to mark its 53rd anniversary. The event was attended by President Jang and other key executives, along with employees. Employees from all domestic and international locations, including Sejong and Busan, also participated in the event in real time via the company’s internal broadcast network.
In his commemorative address, President Jang stated, “The AI industry is currently just at ‘January 1,’” adding, “As AI servers and data centers expand, the demand for core components and the technical complexity are surging, presenting unprecedented, massive growth opportunities across our core businesses, such as MLCCs and package substrates.”
AI servers and data centers rely heavily on high-capacity, high-reliability MLCCs and high-specification package substrates to ensure stable power and signal processing. As AI computing performance increases, so do the performance and technical requirements for the core components used in servers.
President Jang identified “execution” as the key task for responding to these market changes. “SamsungElectroMechanics possesses global partnerships, a unique product portfolio, and proven production capabilities,” he said, emphasizing, “Now, the key is ‘execution.’”
He went on to urge, “Let’s demonstrate our execution capabilities across all areas—including development, production, quality, and safety and environment—and ensure that the opportunities presented to us are translated into tangible results.” This means that the company’s existing technology and production capabilities must be leveraged to drive actual product development, secure customers, and ensure a stable supply.

President Jang stated, “AI technology is fundamentally redefining the way humans work,” and emphasized that all employees should utilize AI agents specialized for their respective tasks. The aim is to streamline simple and repetitive tasks with AI, allowing employees to focus their capabilities on creative, high-value-added core tasks.
The ceremony proceeded with an awards presentation for employees followed by a commemorative address by the CEO. Awards were presented to employees with long service records as well as to the top teams from the company’s first internal AI hackathon, which was held recently.
Last month, SamsungElectroMechanics held an in-house hackathon using “SEMCo-Work,” a generative AI platform it developed in-house, to enhance employees’ AI proficiency and promote workplace innovation. Two hundred employees participated in 100 teams to develop AI agents capable of reducing repetitive tasks and being applied in real-world work environments.
At the ceremony, employees who proposed projects with high practical value—such as manufacturing process optimization and workflow automation—received awards. SamsungElectroMechanics plans to make the outstanding AI agents developed during the hackathon available to all employees and continue refining their functionality so they can be applied to actual work tasks.
