[E-Daily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] HYUNDAIDEPARTMENTSTORECO.,LTD announced that on the 22nd, it held a donation ceremony for the “Love the Sea Navy Scholarship Foundation Scholarship Fund” together with the Navy at the Mugunghwa Hall at the Navy Headquarters in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province.
#HYUNDAIDEPARTMENTSTORECO.,LTD plans to donate a total of 1 billion won in scholarship funds to the Navy—100 million won annually for 10 years, through 2035. The funds will be used to provide scholarships to the families of Navy personnel who died in the line of duty and to support the development of future Navy talent.
With this donation, HYUNDAIDEPARTMENTSTORECO.,LTD will provide a total of 4 billion won in support to the families of service members from the Army, Navy, and Air Force who died in the line of duty. Previously, starting in 2023, HYUNDAIDEPARTMENTSTORECO.,LTD has been donating 200 million won annually to the “Dedication to the Nation, Love for Comrades Fund” for the children of Army service members who died in the line of duty, and, starting this year, 100 million won annually to the “Love for the Sky Scholarship Foundation” for the families of Air Force service members who died in the line of duty.
In addition, HYUNDAIDEPARTMENTSTORECO.,LTD provides support to the families of uniformed public servants, such as firefighters and police officers. From 2008 through last year, the group provided a total of 2.732 billion won in scholarships to 788 children of firefighters who died in the line of duty or were injured on duty, and from 2011 through last year, it provided a total of 4.97 billion won in scholarships to 2,677 children of police officers who died in the line of duty or were injured on duty.
Park Hong-jin, President of HYUNDAI GREEN FOOD, who attended the donation ceremony, said, “I find it very meaningful that, through this donation ceremony, our group is now able to support the bereaved families of all service members from the Army, Navy, and Air Force who died in the line of duty while serving to ensure the safety of the nation and its people,” and “We will continue our efforts to fulfill our corporate social responsibility by honoring the noble sacrifices of uniformed public servants—including military personnel, police officers, and firefighters—and extending a small token of our support to their bereaved families.”
