[Edaily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] CU, a convenience store chain operated by BGF Retail(282330), announced on the 25th that it has launched three new “Bake House 405” baked goods featuring seasonal Chodang sweet corn from Haenam.
CU is taking the lead in win-win management by directly sourcing high-quality domestic agricultural products and purchasing them in bulk locally to revitalize the regional economy and promote the excellence of these products. Previously, the company sold a ready-to-eat meal series using 44 metric tons (t) of domestically produced potatoes and, in collaboration with JINDO.CO.,LTD, sold triangular rice balls filled with grilled pork intestines.
The newly introduced bread products include: △ “Bakehouse 405 Sweet Corn Soboro Bread” (2,400 won) filled with sweet corn cream; △ “Sweet Corn Mochi Pastry”(3,000 won), and △ the “Sweet Corn Cas Castella” (2,500 won) with corn and red bean paste.
The total amount of sweet corn used by CU in this BAKEHouse405 series amounts to approximately 2 metric tons. BAKEHouse405 is a popular product line showing a steadily increasing sales growth rate (year-over-year): 18.7% in 2024, 20.0% in 2025, and 22.7% from January to May 2026.
Along with this, CU is also launching three new products: Yonsei Milk’s Corn Whipped Cream Bread, Cream Mammoth, and Cream Sandwich.
Jo Jun-hyung, Head of the Snack Food Team at BGF Retail, said, “CU is effectively promoting Korean agricultural products not only through whole-ingredient items like roasted sweet potatoes and ready-to-eat meals but also through differentiated formats such as highballs, baked goods, and desserts.” He added, “Going forward, CU will continue to introduce competitive food items that can only be experienced at CU through creative product planning.”
