CJ CheilJedang Corp announced on the 26th that it has signed a business agreement with LOTTE CHEMICAL CORPORATION to develop new high-performance packaging materials. The two companies plan to jointly develop next-generation packaging materials based on CJ CheilJedang Corp’s food packaging R&D capabilities and LOTTE CHEMICAL CORPORATION’s material technology.
The signing ceremony took place on the 25th at CJ Blossom Park in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. The event was attended by Eric Sogiento, Management Leader of Global Packaging at CJ CheilJedang Corp., and Lee Hyun-seop, Executive Vice President of the Basic Materials R&D Division at LOTTE CHEMICAL CORPORATION, among others.
This collaboration aims to address changes in the distribution and cooking environments for frozen foods and ready-to-eat meals. The two companies will collaborate from the raw material design stage to reduce the risk of packaging damage that can occur during frozen storage and logistics, and to develop materials suitable for microwave cooking.
In particular, they are focusing on enhancing physical properties such as cold resistance and heat resistance. During frozen distribution, packaging materials must withstand low temperatures and impact, while during the cooking process, they must maintain stability even in high-temperature environments. Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to simultaneously improve product protection and consumer convenience.
A CJ CheilJedang Corp spokesperson stated, “This agreement marks a meaningful starting point where a materials company and a food brand are collaborating from the early stages of development to create packaging solutions optimized for real-world usage environments,” adding, “We will continue to provide consumers with safer and more convenient product experiences through innovation in packaging materials.”
