NOROO PAINT announced on the 2nd that it has launched “Smart Tint,” an AI-based cloud color-matching system that dramatically improves color-matching precision.
When repairing a vehicle, it is common for the actual paint finish to differ even when applying the exact same color as the vehicle being repaired. This is because existing systems fail to fully account for various factors beyond just color values, such as the particle texture and reflectance characteristics of metallic paints.
SmartTint is characterized by its ability to simultaneously recognize and analyze not only color information but also the particle texture—a key element of metallic paints. While existing color measurement systems have been limited to searching and correcting based on color values and reflectance, SmartTint digitizes particle size to identify colors with greater precision. It is designed to reproduce a wide range of finishes, from solid colors to metallic finishes and even three-coat colors that require multiple applications.
The measured color and particle data are analyzed using an AI-based color correction algorithm. The system automatically suggests the mixing direction that most closely matches the target color. Following automatic correction, it may also suggest additional optimal colorants. This helps reduce color correction time and minimize repetitive work, thereby contributing to consistent quality.
SmartTint operates on a cloud-based platform, allowing color measurement data and correction results to be stored and shared in real time. As a result, field teams and dealerships can collaborate using the same data.
