[E-Daily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] SamsungElectronics(005930)is down by about 4% despite announcing record-breaking second-quarter earnings, due to profit-taking.

According to MP Doctor, as of 9:05 a.m. on the 7th, SamsungElectronics(005930)is trading at 304,500 won, down 13,500 won (4.25%) from the previous day. The stock opened at 307,000 won but extended its losses, falling to a low of 303,000 won.

SamsungElectronics announced preliminary results today showing that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year was 89.4 trillion won, an increase of 1,810.3% compared to the same period last year. Revenue reached 171 trillion won, up 129.3% year-over-year. This marks the third consecutive quarter since the fourth quarter of last year that the company has achieved record-high results for both revenue and operating profit. In just a single quarter, operating profit more than doubled last year’s full-year operating profit (43.6011 trillion won).

Although these figures exceed the market consensus estimates of 85.5118 trillion won in operating profit and 169.3762 trillion won in revenue, the stock price is actually on a downward trend. Analysts suggest that, with market expectations already factored into the stock price, the earnings announcement has triggered a flood of profit-taking.

Overnight on the New York Stock Exchange, bargain-hunting in the AI semiconductor sector caused the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index to rebound 2.2%, halting its two-day losing streak. In contrast, SamsungElectronics’ stock price has continued to rise for two consecutive days.

Meanwhile, SK hynix’s stock is currently trading at 2,312,000 won, down 1.32% from the previous trading day.
