[E-Daily Reporter SIN SOO-JUNG ] Ahead of the Sambok period and the peak of summer heat, the restaurant and beverage industries are rolling out a series of new products targeting summer demand. The restaurant industry is introducing nourishing dishes featuring chicken and abalone, while the beverage industry is targeting the summer market by promoting ways to enjoy traditional liquors chilled. #Jeil Jemyeonso, operated by CJ Corp., launched its new “Abalone Samgyetang Kalguksu” menu on the 9th for the Sambok season. This nourishing dish features a samgyetang broth made from domestic chicken thighs, enhanced with abalone from Wando and ginseng root from Geumsan. It is available at all Jeil Jemyeonso locations nationwide.
The restaurant also introduced a five-course summer nourishing set meal aimed at family gatherings and group dinners. Centered around the Abalone Samgyetang Kalguksu, the set includes marinated raw squid, seafood water dropwort pancakes, kimchi, traditional Korean sweets, and ginseng honey tea. A la carte dishes, such as marinated raw squid and chilled red shrimp salad, have also been introduced. These a la carte dishes and set menus are available for a limited time at the Jeil Noodles branches in Yeouido IFC, Olympic Park, and Mugyo-ju.
To celebrate the launch of the new menu, Jeil Jeomyeonso is giving away limited-edition fans on a first-come, first-served basis to customers who order the Abalone Samgyetang Noodles or the Summer Nourishing 5-Course Set. The restaurant also suggests alcohol pairings to enjoy with the meal, such as Bitgoeun Peach Wine, Geumsan Ginseng Wine, and Busan Cheongju.
KOOK SOON DANG CO., LTD.(043650)To mark the summer season, the company has released a limited edition of 10,000 sets of Baekseju on the Rocks. The Baekseju on the Rocks set consists of four 500-ml bottles of Baekseju and one on-the-rocks glass. It will be sold sequentially at major hypermarkets such as E-MART Co., Ltd.
Baekseju on the Rocks is served by adding ice to Baekseju. The company explains that adding ice enhances the refreshing sensation and lowers the alcohol content, making it ideal for summer consumption. The on-the-rocks glass is modeled after the base of the Baekseju bottle, and features the Chinese character for “hundred” (百) rendered in ink-wash painting style.
To expand the consumer base for traditional liquor, KOOK SOON DANG CO., LTD. is introducing various ways to enjoy Baekseju, such as “Baekseju on the Rocks” and “Baekseju Highball.” The Baekseju Highball is served over ice with Baekseju, tonic water, and LEMON COMPANY LIMITED.
A representative of CJ Corp. said, “In time for the Sambok season, we’ve prepared Jeil Jeomyeonso’s exclusive summer tonic cuisine, carefully crafted with healthy ingredients such as domestically produced chicken and abalone from Wando.”
A representative from KOOK SOON DANG CO., LTD. said, “Since Baekseju on the Rocks, which we introduced last summer, proved very popular among younger consumers, we’ve launched a Baekseju on the Rocks set product in anticipation of the peak summer heat,” adding, “We will continue to introduce diverse ways to enjoy traditional Korean liquor in new and unique ways to help revitalize the traditional Korean liquor market.”
