[E-Daily Reporter Park Sun-Yeop ] NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES is set to launch a full-scale push into the Indian securities market. The company plans to establish a foothold in the Indian capital market by acquiring stakes in high-growth local financial firms and participating in their management. This move goes beyond simple overseas investment and is part of a global business expansion strategy that integrates brokerage, wealth management (WM), and investment banking (IB).
NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES(005940)The company announced on the 9th that it had signed a strategic equity investment agreement worth approximately 142.3 billion won (9 billion Indian rupees) with Choice Equity Broking (CEB), a key subsidiary in the securities division of Choice International, a financial group listed in India. This investment is not merely a financial investment but a strategic equity investment involving management participation, pursued to establish a foundation for long-term cooperation with local financial firms.

Through this agreement, NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES will hold a stake in CEB in the form of preferred stock. Its total stake, including common stock, stands at 32.2% as of the investment date. This stake may change depending on future conversion conditions. NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES plans to participate in management—including through board representation—and establish a substantive partnership with the local financial firm.
CEB is a full-service securities firm with a nationwide sales network and digital platforms across India. It has approximately 260,000 active clients and provides a wide range of financial services, including retail and wholesale brokerage, margin financing (MTF), wealth management (WM), financial product sales, and digital investment platforms. In the most recent fiscal year, from April 2025 to March 2026, it recorded a net income of approximately 19.6 billion won and posted an average annual growth rate of 53.6% over the past four years.
The growth potential of the local capital market is a key factor behind NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES’ decision to select India as a new global hub. India is emerging as a major Shinhung capital market, driven by the expansion of the retail investor base and the proliferation of digital finance. NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES has opted to form strategic partnerships with leading local financial institutions, moving away from its previous approach of establishing direct subsidiaries or joint ventures to secure management control.
Building on this investment, the two companies will expand their collaboration across all sectors, including retail and wholesale brokerage, wealth management (WM), and investment banking (IB). They also plan to strengthen cross-border financial services linking the South Korean and Indian capital markets. The goal is to broaden access to the Indian market for South Korean investors and provide Indian investors with a channel to invest in overseas assets, such as those in South Korea.
There is also potential for group-wide synergies. Choice Group owns various financial affiliates, including non-bank financial companies (NBFCs), asset management firms, and insurance brokers. NH Nonghyup Financial Group has also established a business presence in India through NH Nonghyup Bank’s Noida branch and IFFCO Kisan Finance, a local investment company of NH Nonghyup Capital. Building on this foundation, both sides plan to jointly explore new business opportunities.
This transaction will be finalized after meeting the necessary requirements, including approval from relevant authorities.
Shin Jae-wook, CEO of NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES, stated, “This strategic investment will serve as a significant milestone in further strengthening NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES’ global business portfolio.” He added, “Based on our partnership with Choice Group, we will combine the strengths of both companies to provide differentiated financial services and build sustainable global growth momentum from a long-term perspective.”
Arun Poddar, CEO of Choice Group, also said, “The partnership with NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES, Korea’s leading securities firm, will be a major turning point in the Group’s growth strategy,” adding, “By combining both companies’ financial expertise and market experience, we will introduce differentiated services to customers and jointly create new business opportunities.”
