[E-Daily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] Daewoong Pharmaceutical ( DAEWOONGPHARMACEUTICAL(069620)) announced on the 10th that it has signed a domestic sales agreement with medical AI company Weisen for the AI endoscopy image analysis software “WAYMED ENDO” and is expanding its digital healthcare business.

This agreement is part of DAEWOONGPHARMACEUTICAL’s ongoing digital healthcare business strategy and aims to expand its business scope by adding AI-based diagnostic solutions to its existing gastrointestinal disease treatment business.

DAEWOONGPHARMACEUTICAL plans to provide an integrated solution for gastrointestinal diseases—covering everything from examination preparation to diagnosis and treatment—by combining AI endoscopy analysis software with “Pexuclu,” a treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease, and “CleanCol,” a bowel preparation solution.

The two companies will collaborate to expand the domestic supply of Weimed Endo. DAEWOONGPHARMACEUTICAL will handle sales and marketing targeting tertiary general hospitals, general hospitals, health screening centers, and clinics by leveraging its nationwide hospital sales network, while Weisen will be responsible for product enhancement and technical support.

Weimed Endo is Korea’s first AI-based real-time image analysis software for gastric and colon endoscopy. It assists in detecting small lesions or those easily missed by the naked eye during endoscopic examinations, and automatically measures key endoscopy quality indicators—such as examination time and re-examination rate—to help medical staff manage examination quality and improve operational efficiency.

It can be integrated with a variety of endoscopy devices, allowing for adoption while utilizing existing equipment. In 2023, it was designated as the 37th Innovative Medical Device by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and is currently in use at medical institutions both domestically and internationally.

Lee Chang-jae, CEO of DAEWOONGPHARMACEUTICAL, stated, “This partnership will serve as an opportunity to expand our digital healthcare business into the gastrointestinal disease sector,” adding, “Building on our existing portfolio of gastrointestinal disease products and sales network, we will expand the adoption of our AI endoscopy solution and contribute to improving the clinical environment for medical professionals.”

Kim Kyung-nam, CEO of Weisen, said, “We are pleased to partner with DAEWOONGPHARMACEUTICAL, which possesses strong sales capabilities in the gastrointestinal disease sector,” adding, “We will continue to enhance our product and provide technical support so that more medical institutions can utilize AI-based endoscopy diagnostic assistance software.”
