[Edaily Reporter LEE DAWON ] GS Engineering & Construction Corp(006360)and LGELECTRONICS(066570)are embarking on the development of “AI Home,” a next-generation residential solution that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics technology. The two companies plan to integrate the infrastructure of Xi apartment complexes with LGELECTRONICS’ AI technology to create futuristic residential services, which they will then roll out in phases across future Xi complexes.

GS Engineering & Construction Corp announced on the 13th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the “Joint Development of Next-Generation AI Homes” on the 10th at its headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with GS Engineering & Construction Corp CEO Heo Yoon-hong and LGELECTRONICS President Ryu Jae-cheol in attendance.

This agreement is a follow-up to the “Establishment of a Future Residential Robot Service Model” MOU signed by the two companies last April. It focuses on realizing a future residential model that integrates AI, robots, and living spaces into a single service.

The two companies will jointly develop an AI home solution specifically designed for apartment complexes by combining the infrastructure of Zai apartment complexes with LGELECTRONICS’ “LG ThinQ” AI platform. The developed service is scheduled to be implemented in Zai apartment complexes in phases.

The next-generation AI Home aims to create an integrated living environment that goes beyond simply connecting home appliances; it enables AI to learn residents’ lifestyle patterns and living environments, then suggest or automatically execute necessary functions.

To achieve this, they plan to integrate various in-unit facilities—such as built-in appliances, lighting, heating, ventilation, electrical outlets, and gas valves—as well as community services like elevator calls, parking spot checks, visitor logs, and community facility reservations into a single platform.

The two companies envision creating a “home where the space is maintained for you without you having to worry about it”—where AI engages in natural conversation with users, understands the context of their daily lives, and automatically provides necessary functions tailored to their individual lifestyles.

This collaboration will extend beyond AI homes to include robotics services. The two companies plan to integrate LGELECTRONICS’ robot ecosystem—including its home robot “LG CLOi”—with Zai complex infrastructure to build future residential services where AI and robots coexist.
