Distributor Aniplus announced on the 14th, “The film ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle’ has confirmed a special screening this August to commemorate the first anniversary of its release.”
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle” swept the summer box office after its domestic release on August 22 of last year, topping the box office charts for 20 consecutive days.
In March of this year, it was re-released exclusively at CGV in new formats, including the new special screening format ScreenX (SCREENX), as well as upgraded 4DX and IMAX versions. It drew 111,838 viewers, proving its continued popularity.
Reports indicate that this special 1st-anniversary screening will feature a variety of events, including on-site giveaways for audience members. Fueled by the enthusiastic response from “Demon Slayer” fans, the film is expected to reignite the box office fever this summer.
The 1st-anniversary special screening of *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle* is the first wide-release film to be presented since the merger of Animax Broadcasting Korea and Aniplus on July 1. It is also significant as the first project marking the launch of the merged entity. It is drawing attention for its potential to demonstrate enhanced competitiveness and influence in the domestic animation market, leveraging the content expertise and distribution know-how both companies have accumulated over the years.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle” depicts the first chapter of the final showdown between the “Demon Slayer Corps” and the elite demons at Mugen Castle, the stronghold of the demons. Last year, it attracted 5.81 million viewers, marking the highest-grossing performance ever for a Japanese anime film. It will be available in theaters nationwide this August.
