[E-Daily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] The number of users of Naver’s (NAVER(035420)) agent-based search service, “AI Tab,” has surpassed 10 million. Naver plans to expand AI Tab beyond mere information discovery into an action-oriented artificial intelligence (AI) agent that leads to actual actions in areas such as shopping, real estate, and health.

Naver announced on the 15th that 10 million users are currently using AI Tab.

AI Tab is a conversational search service that combines AI technology with Naver’s service assets, including search, shopping, local services, and content. Users can go beyond simply viewing search results and narrow down the information they need by asking follow-up questions.

Naver explained that the AI Tab naturally extends the existing search experience while providing an AI search environment that feels familiar to Korean users.

In particular, unlike other conversational AI services, the AI Tab is characterized by its ability to connect information exploration to actual actions, such as purchases and reservations. Naver explained that by combining the search technology and infrastructure it has accumulated over more than 20 years with the user-generated content (UGC) ecosystem—including blogs and cafes—it provides answers and recommendations tailored to the context of domestic users.

User behavior has also shifted since the official launch. According to Naver, the average daily number of queries on the AI Tab has increased sevenfold compared to the beta service. The number of queries per user has risen 1.7-fold, and the proportion of multi-turn conversations—where users follow up with additional questions rather than stopping after a single query—has also expanded.

The AI Tab provides personalized recommendations for everyday searches—such as exploring electronics, comparing household goods, and getting fashion recommendations—by comprehensively leveraging actual purchase data, shopping reviews, and UGC. Naver stated that this has reduced the time taken from search to decision-making by up to 60–70%.

Naver is also strengthening the integration between the AI Tab and its existing AI search features. Starting today, a new chat window linking to the AI Tab will be added at the bottom of AI Briefing, which is used by over 30 million people monthly. Users can review key summaries in AI Briefing and then continue with follow-up questions and in-depth exploration in the AI Tab.

The image-based search experience will also be enhanced. Within this month, Naver will strengthen the integration between Smart Lens, AI Briefing, and the AI Tab. When users take a photo of a product with Smart Lens or upload an image, they will be able to view key information in AI Briefing and proceed to ask follow-up questions or even purchase the product via the AI Tab.

In August, Naver will launch a property search agent linked to Naver Real Estate and an Agent AI tailored for the Whale browser. The real estate agent will recommend personalized listings by comprehensively leveraging Naver Pay real estate data, the user’s linked asset information, and user-generated content (UGC). It will also provide reviews from actual residents and property analysis information.

In the Whale browser, users can launch the AI agent from the sidebar to receive support for all aspects of web browsing, such as summarizing web pages and viewing browsing history.

A health agent will also be introduced by the end of the year. The health agent is a service that provides personalized health information based on verified sources. It plans to offer answers grounded in credible medical information and provide a personalized health management experience by integrating with Naver services—such as real-life experience posts on Naver Cafe and searches for hospitals and dietary supplements.

Kim Kwang-hyun, Naver’s Chief Data and Content Officer (CDO), said, “Through the AI Tab, Naver will provide a search experience tailored specifically to Korean users that is distinctly different from various domestic and international conversational AI services.” He added, “We will refine it into the most reliable service in terms of trustworthiness and develop it into an AI service that is indispensable to users’ daily lives.”
