On the 20th, Ha Ji-won’s agency, Haewadal Entertainment, announced, “Ha Ji-won will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the MLB regular-season game between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles, taking place on the 21st (local time) at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.” This event holds special significance as it marks the first time a Korean actor has performed this honor.
According to her agency, this event was organized as part of MLB’s ongoing global efforts to connect with fans worldwide through the convergence of sports and entertainment, and it is expected to serve as a meaningful opportunity for cultural exchange between the Korean entertainment industry and Major League Baseball.
Previously, Ha Ji-won drew attention when she threw the ceremonial first pitch at the game between the LG Twins and the KT Wiz held at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on July 16. Despite it being her first time throwing a ceremonial first pitch in 12 years, she showcased perfect pitching form and garnered an enthusiastic response, raising expectations for her performance at the MLB event.
Through her agency, Ha Ji-won shared her thoughts, saying, “I am deeply honored to be the first Korean actress to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park, a historic stadium that represents Major League Baseball.” She added, “I’ve been practicing hard, so I want to put on a great performance. Not only do I hope to bring the spirit of victory to the Boston Red Sox players, but I also want to share this precious moment with Korean expatriates watching the MLB game in person, as well as baseball fans around the world.”
Ha Ji-won is currently attending Kyung Hee University and is drawing attention for her new side as she appears on the web variety show “I’m Ji-won, Class of ’26,” where she interacts freely with college students of the MZ generation. This ceremonial first pitch is also scheduled to be featured on “I’m Ji-won, Class of ’26.” According to the production team of “Class of ’26, It’s Ji-won,” Major League Baseball player Kim Byung-hyun, who previously assisted with a professional baseball ceremonial first pitch, highly praised Ha Ji-won’s skills and proposed that she throw the first pitch in the Major Leagues. Ha Ji-won gladly accepted Kim Byung-hyun’s surprise proposal. Actress Ha Ji-won’s journey to throw the first pitch in the Major Leagues will be released on Thursdays, August 6 and 13, at 6:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Ha Ji-won is also set to showcase her acting skills in the film “Bi-gwang,” which is scheduled for release on September 2.
