Samsung and Harman Connect Homes, Cars, and Mobile Devices with AI… “Enabling a Hands-Free Lifestyle”
AI Understands Users’ Situations and Preferences… Connecting Cars, Homes, and Galaxy Devices
Samsung and Harman Expand Collaboration from AKG Audio to Digital Cockpits
[E-Daily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] SamsungElectronics and its subsidiary Harman are accelerating efforts to deliver a next-generation connected experience that links cars, homes, and mobile devices using artificial intelligence (AI). The key is that AI identifies individual preferences and situations to provide an optimal environment without requiring users to manually operate each device.
According to the SamsungElectronics Newsroom on the 26th, Dave Rogers, President of HARMAN’s Lifestyle Business Division, and Armin Promusberger, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), discussed the achievements of the SamsungElectronics–HARMAN partnership and their vision for future technology in an interview.
CTO Prommersberger emphasized, “True innovation does not lie in devices performing more tasks,” adding, “It lies in reducing the need for users to manually operate and manage their devices.” Harman CTO Armin Promusberger (left) and Dave Rogers, President of the Lifestyle Business Division. In the morning, a Galaxy device supports the user’s day, and upon entering the car, the in-vehicle environment adjusts based on travel conditions and personal preferences. The goal is to ensure a seamless audio experience even when returning home, as the car and home are linked to provide continuity across different spaces.
CTO Promusberger explained, “Through AI and enhanced connectivity, technology can now understand users more accurately and adapt naturally to their needs,” adding, “Users shouldn’t have to worry about which app to open or which settings to change.”
Over the past decade, the two companies have expanded their collaboration across the audio, mobile, and automotive electronics sectors. Initially, they integrated Harman’s AKG audio technology into SamsungElectronics’ Galaxy products, and later broadened their partnership to include digital cockpits that combine SamsungElectronics’ display and connected technologies with Harman’s automotive technologies.
President Rogers said, “SamsungElectronics possesses an exceptional ability to develop new ideas into technologies that impact the lives of countless people and to implement them on a massive scale,” adding, “This approach is also serving as a positive inspiration for Harman.”
This year also marks the 80th anniversary of Harman’s flagship audio brand, JBL, and the 60th anniversary of Bowers & Wilkins. President Rogers emphasized, “Technology changes rapidly, but human emotions remain constant,” adding, “Our opportunity lies in constantly connecting the two.”
