Wanted Lab Inc. announced on the 26th that it will hold the “FDE Recruiting Carnival” at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil on November 18 to facilitate hiring and foster talent.
An FDE is an engineering role in which engineers are deployed to client sites to define problems, implement and deploy solutions directly, and then handle subsequent verification and improvement. Demand for FDE positions has been growing rapidly due to the recent proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI). According to Wanted Lab Inc., the number of companies posting FDE job openings this year (January–September) increased 13.8-fold compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the number of FDE job openings also rose 14.5-fold.
Although demand for FDE talent is growing, it remains difficult to obtain detailed information in Korea because the job definition, required competencies, and scope of work vary from company to company. Companies also report that even when they post job listings, it is not easy to find applicants who fully understand the role. Accordingly, Wanted Lab Inc. plans to use this event to facilitate direct meetings between companies and developers, align expectations regarding the FDE role, and support the process leading to actual hires.
Specifically, the event will feature an introduction to FDE roles and market trends, presentations on how companies utilize FDE, followed by a panel discussion with current professionals. The panel will include Jeong Ki-su, Head of the FDE & AI Division at Wanted Lab Inc.; Jeon Hyun-jun, a freelance AI engineer; and Han Sang-yoon, an FDE at Cleve. At the recruitment briefing, MakinaRocks Co., Ltd., Sionic AI, Vessel AI, and Xenon will present the required competencies for FDE roles and their hiring processes. Participants who are matched with companies of interest can take part in one-on-one coffee chats and will be registered in the FDE talent pool to receive future job offers.
The event is open to 100 developers with at least two years of experience who wish to transition into FDE roles. Applications can be submitted via the Wanted event page until November 16.
Wanted Lab Inc. is also launching its own FDE talent development program. It plans to operate the “FDE Academy” for developers who have development experience but lack AI application skills or on-site client experience, making it difficult for them to transition to an FDE role. The curriculum will be designed to familiarize participants with the actual workflow of an FDE, and graduates will be connected to the FDE talent pool to explore hiring opportunities.
