[Edaily Reporter SIN SOO-JUNG ] #KT&G Corporation Welfare Foundation announced on the 20th that it had dispatched 80 members of the “Imagine With Us” overseas volunteer group, consisting of college students, to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The volunteer group will be active until the 26th at Kokozek Public School in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and Nuraishan School No. 1 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

They will run educational programs for local elementary school students and conduct cultural exchange activities, such as traditional Korean cultural experiences and K-pop performances. They will also work to improve the educational environment by painting school facilities, repairing gym floors, and creating murals.

“Imagine With Us” is an overseas volunteer corps for college students that the KT&G Corporation Welfare Foundation has operated since 2005. To date, the foundation has dispatched approximately 2,000 college students on 60 separate occasions to carry out volunteer activities in countries such as Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

An official from the KT&G Corporation Welfare Foundation stated, “For the past 20 years, we have been dispatching university student volunteer groups to overseas regions in need of educational improvements,” adding, “We will continue to carry out various social contribution activities targeting regions that need assistance.”

The KT&G Corporation Welfare Foundation was established in 2003. Domestically, it provides vehicles to social welfare organizations and supports energy-vulnerable households with heating costs and winter supplies. Overseas, it has established a forestry and agriculture education center to prevent desertification in Mongolia and has been working to improve educational environments at local schools.
