[Edaily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] SamsungElectronics and SK hynix are trading higher in early trading on the 22nd. According to MP Doctor, as of 9:02 a.m. today, SamsungElectronics(005930)is trading at 273,000 won, up 14,000 won (5.41%) from the previous trading day, while SK hynix(000660)is trading at 1,969,000 won, up 133,000 won (7.24%). This is believed to be due to the resurgence of the artificial intelligence (AI) investment boom on the New York Stock Exchange overnight, which caused semiconductor and memory-related stocks to surge across the board. On the 21st (local time), memory storage device maker SanDisk led the rally with a surge of over 14%, while memory semiconductor company Micron Technology also rose by more than 12%. Semiconductor equipment makers Applied Materials, KLA, and Lam Research; optical component manufacturers Coherent and Lumentum; glass manufacturer Corning; and storage device companies Seagate and Western Digital also closed higher. This positive sentiment has carried over to the domestic market, with buying interest concentrated on SamsungElectronics and SK hynix, the leading memory semiconductor stocks. While bargain-hunting has flowed into semiconductor stocks—which had plummeted following the recent unveiling of super-large AI models by Chinese AI companies—investor attention is shifting toward the earnings reports from Big Tech companies such as Alphabet and Tesla, scheduled for this week. Market attention is focused on the big tech earnings season, which kicks off in earnest this week. Following earnings announcements by Alphabet, Tesla, IBM, and Texas Instruments after the market closes on the 22nd, Intel is scheduled to release its results on the 23rd.
