Department stores and outlet malls are hosting character-themed and fashion pop-up shops as well as experiential events, while large supermarkets are focusing on discounts for holiday foods such as galbi (grilled short ribs). In the e-commerce sector, large-scale discount sales ranging from gift sets to beauty products are underway.

Shinsegae Co.,Ltd.’s Gangnam branch is offering a 15% discount on the fall collection of the minimalist brand “Arto.” HYUNDAIDEPARTMENTSTORECO.,LTD(069960)is hosting the “Haphazard Shop” pop-up at its Sinchon branch and “The Dream Festa” at its Jungdong branch.
Outlets and shopping complexes are also emphasizing experiential content. Lotte Outlet is hosting “Sketchers Super Week,” which combines discounts of up to 60% with a pickleball experience zone. I-Park Mall’s Yongsan branch is presenting the “Big Catch Pop-up,” featuring fishing YouTuber “Park Manager TV” and others.
Large supermarkets are offering discounts on galbi, a staple holiday food. E-MART Co., Ltd.(139480)is selling U.S. and Australian “LA-style flower galbi sets” (2 kg) for around 90,000 won—the same price as last year—through bulk purchasing and diversification of sourcing regions. Lotte Mart is holding its “Big Rib Sale” through the 16th, offering L.Point members a 30% discount on refrigerated and frozen rib products, including “beef LA-style short ribs” and “beef braising ribs.”
Online, a discount war targeting Chuseok gift demand is in full swing. Coupang is hosting the “Chuseok Festa” for Wow Members through the 27th, offering discounts on approximately 80,000 items. 11st is running the “Onnuri Market” special event through the 21st, featuring holiday gift sets from vendors in traditional markets and local shopping districts. Customers will earn 2% of their Onnuri Gift Certificate purchase amount back as 11Pay points. Lotte On is selling new products—including a collaboration between Ourhome’s frozen meal brand “On the Go” and BHC—at special prices through its “Wednesday New Product Lab.”
SSG.com is holding the “Beauty SSG Sale” through the 13th to capitalize on demand for cosmetics as Chuseok gifts. Premium beauty brands such as Sulwhasoo, Estée Lauder, Yves Saint Laurent, SK-II, and La Mer are participating, with a focus on brands available at Shinsegae Co.,Ltd. Mall and Shinsegae Department Store Mall. The site is offering a limited sale of 23 types of “Lucky Boxes” with discounts of up to 94%, and will issue an unlimited number of coupons offering up to 15% off products during the event period.
A separate gift promotion targeting Chuseok has also been organized. The selection ranges from premium products like Chanel Beauty, Diptyque, Tom Ford Beauty, and Prada Beauty to skin and body care items that make for relatively affordable gifts. Customers who spend 50,000 won or more using a participating event card can also receive up to an 8% statement discount.
