Targeting the Global Market with Dental Materials That Offer Enhanced Eco-Friendliness and Biocompatibility

The two companies held a signing ceremony on the 21st at Graphy Inc.’s headquarters in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and agreed to jointly develop next-generation dental 3D printing materials by combining Graphy Inc.’s photopolymerizable materials and digital 3D printing technology with Samyang Inochem CO.,LTD’s isosorbide material technology.
Under the agreement, Graphy Inc. will lead the development of light-curable resins incorporating isosorbide, their application in 3D printing processes, and the commercialization of medical devices. Samyang Inochem CO.,LTD will be responsible for supplying bio-based isosorbide materials and providing technical support to optimize materials for dental and medical applications.
Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to develop bio-based dental materials that can be applied to clear aligners and dental prosthetics. In particular, they aim to improve key properties of dental materials—such as shrinkage, transparency, and biocompatibility—by incorporating isosorbide.
Isosorbide is a bio-based material produced from plant-derived starch, such as corn. As an eco-friendly material capable of replacing conventional petrochemical raw materials, it enhances heat resistance, transparency, and biocompatibility, making it suitable for use in plastics, coatings, adhesives for electric vehicle motor cores, and medical materials. In South Korea, it is produced by Samyang Inochem CO.,LTD.
Recently, the demand for materials that offer not only biocompatibility and safety but also environmental friendliness and sustainability has been growing in the dental medical device market. Through this collaboration, the company plans to develop bio-based 3D printing materials for dental applications and strengthen its competitive edge in the global digital dentistry market.
Ryu Hoon, Head of the Business PU at Samyang Inochem, stated, “We intend to develop next-generation 3D printing materials by combining Samyang Inochem’s bio-material technology with Graphy Inc.’s digital 3D printing technology,” adding, “We expect this collaboration to serve as an opportunity to expand the application of isosorbide in the medical device sector.”
Shim Un-seop, CEO of Graphy Inc., remarked, “This agreement marks the first step toward developing next-generation dental materials by combining biomaterial and photopolymerizable material technologies,” adding, “Based on the technological capabilities of both companies, we will develop high-performance dental materials to enhance our competitiveness in the global digital dentistry market.”
