[London (UK) = E-Daily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] SamsungElectronics(005930)is expanding the artificial intelligence (AI) experience beyond smartphone screens and into users’ fields of vision. The company has entered the race for next-generation AI DEVICES by unveiling its first AI glasses, which understand the user’s surroundings and provide necessary information without the need to take out a smartphone.
SamsungElectronics unveiled its AI glasses, “Intelligent Eyewear,” at “Galaxy Unpacked 2026” held in London, UK, on the 22nd (local time). Based on the Android XR operating system and the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 platform, this new mobile device is equipped with a camera, sensors, a microphone, and a speaker, utilizing both visual and audio inputs.

Choi Won-jun, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President of SamsungElectronics’ MX Business Division, stated, “In the era of agentic AI, a mobile experience that understands the user’s intent and context and intuitively connects the necessary functions is crucial,” adding, “Intelligent Eyewear is a new touchpoint that recognizes the context of daily life to provide a personalized AI experience.”
The core of Intelligent Eyewear is “vision-based AI.” The AI analyzes the objects and surroundings the user is looking at to provide real-time information. It can translate foreign-language menus and conversations, provide location-based navigation, and even handle tasks such as checking and replying to messages using voice commands.
Business-oriented features have also been enhanced. When users capture images of whiteboards, documents, or meeting scenes, the AI analyzes the content and organizes it in Samsung Notes. By reducing the need for users to take notes manually or capture images with their smartphones, the device aims to serve as an AI assistant that supports both daily life and work.
The battery lasts up to 9 hours on a single charge, and the dedicated charging case allows for up to 7 additional charges. However, specific camera specifications, pricing, and launch countries will be announced at a later date.
Samsung has also focused on a design that allows the device to be worn as naturally as real glasses, rather than just as a tech gadget. In collaboration with the Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster and the U.S.-based Warby Parker, the company is introducing a total of four designs. The strategy is to secure mass appeal not only through iA features but also as a fashion item.
With this product, SamsungElectronics is expanding the Galaxy AI ecosystem from smartphones to the wearable sector. Following the integration of health management AI into the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring, the company is expanding AI experiences that understand users’ daily lives and environments, alongside the headset-style “Galaxy XR.”
SamsungElectronics’ entry into the AI eyewear market is expected to intensify competition for next-generation wearable AI platforms with global tech giants such as Meta and Apple.
Unlike XR devices centered on immersive content, intelligent eyewear focuses on portability and the immediate delivery of information. It aims to be a “constantly connected AI device” by utilizing the user’s gaze and voice as new input methods before they even take out their smartphone.

Both devices feature enhanced AI-based health management capabilities, offering preventive healthcare functions such as monitoring vital signs during sleep, heart health scores, and exercise data analysis.
The Watch Ultra 2 features an 800mAh battery and a display with a maximum brightness of 5,000 nits, enhancing its usability for outdoor activities, while the Watch 9 focuses on everyday health management and a 24-hour wear experience.
Noh Tae-moon, CEO of SamsungElectronics and Head of the MX Business Division (President), said, “The new Galaxy Watch series will provide practical insights to support proactive health management.”
Through this Unpacked event, SamsungElectronics unveiled its strategy to move beyond the smartphone-centric mobile era and transition to the “AI Device Era,” where AI is integrated into every aspect of users’ daily lives. Intelligent eyewear is scheduled for release later this year.
