The film *Happy and Joyful Days*, starring Shuhua, has been officially invited to the Special Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, which will be held from September 10 to 20.
The Toronto International Film Festival is the largest film festival in North America, and its Special Presentations section showcases new works by globally acclaimed actors and directors.
Previous Korean films invited to this section include Director Bong Joon-ho’s “Mother” (2009) and “Parasite” (2019), as well as Director Park Chan-wook’s “The Handmaiden” (2016). With her first leading role, Shu Hua has made her mark on the global film festival stage, setting a meaningful milestone in her acting career.
Shu Hua shared her thoughts, saying, “I really couldn’t believe it when I heard the news,” and added, “I consider it a great honor to be able to step onto the international stage with such a wonderful team right from my first film.”
She added, “I hope that everyone who watches the film will find empathy and comfort through the story of Lin Zhi (her character) and feel the sincerity we poured into this work.”

*Happy and Joyful Days* tells the story of two sisters with completely different personalities whose peaceful daily lives are disrupted when a stray cat suddenly appears. The film has garnered attention as it is directed by Feng Ai Fiona Ron, who won the Best New Director Award, the International Critics’ Award, and the Audience Award at the Golden Horse Film Festival—one of the leading film festivals in the Chinese-speaking world—for her debut feature film, *American Girl*.
Xu Hua plays the role of Lin Zaji, the youngest daughter with a bright and innocent personality. After encountering the stray cat, Lin Zaji experiences a range of emotions in her relationships with her sisters and gradually begins to change.
Shuhua debuted with the group iDOL in May 2018 and has won the public’s affection by releasing numerous hit songs. Through *Happy and Joyful Days*, Shuhua is beginning her career as an actress.
iKON, the group to which Shuhua belongs, will continue its global activities by performing at the major music festival “Lollapalooza,” taking place in Chicago, USA, on the 31st (local time).
