[Edaily Reporter Hong Ju-yeon ] SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS(207940)announced on the 23rd that it recorded second-quarter revenue of 1.3209 trillion won and operating profit of 586.4 billion won. These figures represent increases of 30% and 23%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. This growth is attributed to the full operation of Plants 1 through 4 and favorable exchange rates.A panoramic view of SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS Plant 4 (Image: SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS)
SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS explained, “The operating profit margin remained in the 40% range even though related costs were recognized in advance of the full-scale revenue recognition from Plant 5 and the Rockville, U.S., production facility.” The company added, “Based on the expanding revenue contribution from Plant 5 and the Rockville, U.S. production facility, as well as favorable exchange rates, we expect to achieve the upper end of our 2026 annual revenue growth guidance (+15–20% year-over-year).”
In terms of global operations, the company plans to open a European sales office in the Netherlands within the third quarter to accelerate its expansion into global markets. By expanding its sales offices to New Jersey, U.S., in 2023; Tokyo, Japan, in 2025; and Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 2026, the company will secure sales bases across the U.S., Europe, Japan, and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region—the three major global biopharmaceutical markets. Building on this foundation, the company plans to strengthen its competitiveness in securing orders and continue to achieve a decisive competitive edge through the expansion of its global network.
In terms of its portfolio, the company has been continuously expanding its business scope, as evidenced by its decision to acquire Polypeptide Group, a global peptide CDMO company. In addition to its core business of antibody drugs, SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS has secured capabilities to develop and manufacture various new modalities, such as messenger RNA (mRNA) and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), while also securing a site for its third Bio Campus to build production facilities for these high-value-added new modalities.
As of the end of the second quarter of 2026, SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS’ assets totaled 12.6526 trillion won, equity stood at 8.3619 trillion won, and liabilities amounted to 4.2907 trillion won. With a debt-to-equity ratio of 51.3% and a debt-to-assets ratio of 11.5%, the company maintains a stable financial structure.
