[Edaily Reporter kim mi-kyung ] NamyangDairyProducts’ flagship dairy beverage brand, “Chocoemon,” is marking its 15th anniversary and solidifying its position as a leading “brand platform” in the dairy market, transcending its status as a single product.

NamyangDairyProducts(003920)The company announced on the 23rd that Choco Emong’s cumulative sales have surpassed 550 million units (based on Tetra Pak shipments as of June 2026). It is widely regarded as having established itself as a long-running hit product by introducing a “rich chocolate flavor” to the chocolate milk market—which was dominated by sweet-tasting products—at the time of its launch in 2011. Last year, it recorded a 24.9% market share (according to Nielsen Korea) in the domestic offline chocolate-flavored milk market, maintaining its No. 1 position for four consecutive years since 2022.

NamyangDairyProducts is expanding its range of flavors, product lines, and brand experiences to develop “Choco Emong” into the “Emong” brand, moving beyond a single product.

According to NamyangDairyProducts, the secret to Choco Emong’s success lies not only in its rich chocolate flavor but also in its expansion of the consumer base through everyday retail channels such as school snack bars and convenience stores, as well as the natural spread of consumption trends—such as eating it frozen or enjoying it in various other ways. In particular, the company noted that it has secured a broad consumer base that continues to purchase the brand even after reaching adulthood.

NamyangDairyProducts has recently been developing Choco Emong not as a single product but as a brand platform. Following the launch of “Matcha Emong” and “Choco Emong Mini Sugar-Free” last year, the company introduced “Red Bean Emong” this year. It has expanded the “Emong” lineup to a total of about 20 varieties, including ice cream formats such as Chuchu Bar and Monaka.

In addition, the company is increasing offline touchpoints where consumers can directly experience the brand, such as the “Choco Emong Campus Attack” campaign targeting college students. Driven by this brand expansion strategy, sales of NamyangDairyProducts’ flavored milk product line—including Choco Emong—rose 7% year-over-year in the first quarter of this year.

Kim Myung-hwan, Head of Marketing Strategy at NamyangDairyProducts, emphasized, “While maintaining Choco Emong’s signature rich flavor, we will continue to expand new flavors, products, and brand experiences to develop it into a brand that grows alongside consumers.”

Meanwhile, NamyangDairyProducts, which transitioned to the Han & Company structure in January 2024, is simultaneously restoring trust and improving performance based on compliance and ethical management. Following its return to operating profit in May 2025—the first time in five years—the company continued its strong performance trend in the first quarter of this year. Furthermore, the company is accelerating its expansion into global markets; this year, it became the first in the domestic dairy industry to participate in the Presidential Economic Delegation (to Vietnam in April and Mongolia in July), where it signed export memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with local distribution companies.
