[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] EuBiologics Co., Ltd.(206650)announced on the 23rd that it is expanding its vaccine portfolio by pursuing the commercialization of typhoid and meningococcal vaccines, building on its oral cholera vaccine business.
The company supplied approximately 60 million doses of cholera vaccine last year. It explained that demand for vaccines—both for routine immunization and emergency response—is increasing this year, as global vaccination campaigns resumed in the second quarter and cholera outbreaks continue, particularly in Africa.
EuBiologics Co., Ltd. expects that as the supply share of “YubiCol-S”—which features improved production yield—increases, it will be able to supply larger volumes using the same production infrastructure, thereby helping to enhance cost competitiveness and profitability.
The company is developing the typhoid conjugate vaccine and the 5-valent meningococcal conjugate vaccine as next-generation growth engines. The typhoid conjugate vaccine is currently undergoing the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Prequalification (PQ) process, and preparations are underway for the clinical trials and commercialization of the 5-valent meningococcal conjugate vaccine. The company also cited its ability to leverage the procurement network with international organizations, such as UNICEF, established through its existing cholera vaccine business as a key strength.
The company is also advancing the development of viral vaccines and therapeutic vaccines. It is preparing for follow-up clinical trials for its shingles vaccine and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine, while its Alzheimer’s therapeutic vaccine is being developed using a dual-target approach that simultaneously targets amyloid and tau. The company plans to pursue technology transfers to global pharmaceutical companies after securing initial clinical data.
EuBiologics Co., Ltd. stated, “Building on the stable cash flow generated by our cholera vaccine, we are simultaneously commercializing bacterial vaccines and developing viral and therapeutic vaccines,” adding, “We will continue to expand our vaccine portfolio to grow into a global vaccine company.”
