[Edaily Reporter KIM AH-REUM ] The perception that “apps are the exclusive domain of the younger generation” is becoming a thing of the past. As people in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s—who are preparing for the second chapter of their lives—actively utilize smartphone-based recruitment platforms, the professional recruitment market for middle-aged and older adults is also growing rapidly. Middle-aged and older adults seeking re-employment or a career change after retirement have begun to embrace digital platforms as a new channel for job hunting. (Image = Saramin) Saramin(143240)“Wonderful Senior,” a job platform for middle-aged and older adults operated by [Company Name], announced on the 23rd that new members in the first half of this year increased by 202% compared to the second half of last year. Wonderful Senior is a specialized platform that goes beyond providing tailored job information for this demographic to offer comprehensive support throughout the entire job search process—from competency assessments and career consulting to job applications—all in one place.
During the same period, the number of new members aged 50 and older also rose by 153%. This is interpreted as a balanced increase among people in their 40s—who are preparing for the second chapter of their lives as the typical retirement age is being brought forward—and those in their 50s and older who are actually starting a second career.
It is also notable that users are actively engaging in job searches beyond simply signing up. The number of job applications in the first half of this year rose by 75% compared to the second half of last year. As of June this year, the number of resumes uploaded had increased by 112.8% compared to January.
As the number of companies seeking to hire middle-aged and older workers has also increased, job postings are showing a growth trend. The average growth rate of job postings on Wonderful Senior from the third quarter of last year to the second quarter of this year was 238%.
This growth is attributed to Wonderful Senior’s tailored service design, which effectively targets middle-aged and older job seekers. Wonderful Senior helps middle-aged and older adults launch a second career by leveraging their aptitudes and competencies through vocational competency assessments. In the first half of the year, the company upgraded its job posting filters—alongside AI-based job matching—to enable senior job seekers to quickly and easily find the positions they want amid a vast amount of information.
The platform introduced an “Immediate Application” service, allowing users to complete the hiring process with just a few clicks after simply uploading their resume, and improved the readability of highly trusted “job postings from public institutions.” This streamlines complex application procedures and provides an optimal user flow for exploring and applying to job openings that match individual qualifications.
A representative from Saramin’s Wonderful Senior stated, “We are continuing to make improvements in various areas, including platform usability, for middle-aged and older adults who are actively seeking jobs and looking to continue their careers,” adding, “We plan to implement various measures to support the successful career journeys of this demographic going forward.”
