[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, and Choi Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, met ahead of the opening of the AI Summit in San Francisco, U.S., and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The two companies plan to further strengthen their existing collaboration—centered on AI memory and AI infrastructure—and strive to secure a leading position in the global AI ecosystem.

According to NVIDIA on the 24th, Chairman Choi and CEO Huang shared a dinner in Woodside, California, on the 23rd (local time), one day before the San Francisco AI Summit. The event was attended by Kwak No-jeong, CEO of SK hynix, key executives from SKTelecom, and NVIDIA officials. Madison Huang, CEO Huang’s eldest daughter and Senior Director of Product Marketing for NVIDIA Omniverse and Robotics, was also present.

It is reported that during the dinner, both sides reaffirmed their ongoing partnership in areas such as AI semiconductors, data center infrastructure, physical AI, and robotics. NVIDIA described the event as “an occasion to reaffirm the long-standing partnership between the two companies.”

This meeting is largely a follow-up aimed at fleshing out the collaboration plans announced during CEO Hwang’s visit to South Korea last June. At that time, NVIDIA and SK agreed to a multi-year technical partnership to jointly develop memory for NVIDIA platforms used in AI infrastructure, personal AI, and physical AI.

SK hynix plans to jointly develop next-generation memory in line with NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure roadmap. The plan is to expand collaboration on memory—including HBM optimized for NVIDIA’s next-generation AI accelerators and server platforms—for use in AI data centers, personal devices, and robotics.

NVIDIA is also using this AI Summit as an opportunity to strengthen its collaboration with the South Korean government, industry, and academia. NVIDIA and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced today the establishment of a joint research institute for agentic AI at the Kim Jae-cheol AI Graduate School at KAIST in Seoul. This marks the first AI research institute jointly established by a South Korean university and a global technology company.

The joint research institute will combine NVIDIA’s AI technology, the Nemotron open model, and the computing infrastructure of AI cloud partners with the expertise of KAIST researchers to advance agentic AI research and talent development. Agentic AI is a technology that enables systems to independently plan and execute tasks necessary to achieve goals set by users.

CEO Hwang is scheduled to meet with President Lee Jae-myung and other leading business figures from South Korea and the United States in succession during the AI Summit. Chairman Choi is also expected to join SamsungElectronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, HyundaiMotor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin in discussions with global Big Tech leaders regarding AI infrastructure investment, the supply of cutting-edge GPUs, and collaboration on research and talent development.
