SuperTone is a company that possesses AI audio technology capable of generating a variety of voices by combining the various elements that make up a voice.
Previously, HYBE invested 4 billion won in Supertone in 2021 to acquire an 18.2% stake. Subsequently, in 2023, it made an additional investment of 45 billion won to secure a majority stake and made Supertone a subsidiary.
Since being acquired by HYBE, Supertone has launched products such as the noise-removal plugin “Supertone Clear” and the real-time voice conversion solution “Supertone Shift.” HYBE also utilized Supertone’s multilingual pronunciation correction technology to simultaneously release a new song by its artist Lee Hyun in six different languages.
However, just three years after the acquisition, HYBE decided to liquidate Supertone. At an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders held on the 15th, the company resolved to dissolve Supertone, appointed a liquidator, and decided to proceed with the liquidation process.
According to HYBE’s business report, Supertone recorded approximately 2.3 billion won in revenue and a net loss of approximately 13 billion won last year. HYBE told Edaily that day, “We reviewed various options to keep the company in operation, but after determining that it would be difficult to continue operations, we decided to liquidate Supertone.”
