According to business circles on the 27th,Chairman Lee and Chairman Choi are expected to attend “Google Camp,” which will be held in Sicily, Italy, later this month.
Following their joint appearance at the artificial intelligence (AI) summit held earlier in San Francisco, their immediate participation in Google Camp has led to speculation that they will strengthen their networking with global Big Tech executives while finalizing specific plans for collaboration.
At the San Francisco AI Summit, SamsungElectronics and SK Group agreed to a total of $950 billion in collaborations with companies such as NVIDIA and Broadcom, focusing on memory semiconductors and AI data centers.
The business community expects the two chairmen to expand their interactions with CEOs of global Big Tech companies, including Google, at this event, discuss the latest technology trends centered on AI and key management issues, and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Google Camp is a private event held every summer at the Rocco Forte Verdura Golf Resort in southern Sicily by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Each year, CEOs of major global tech companies and global leaders attend under a single theme. However, the guest list and program details are not disclosed to the public.
In 2024, attendees reportedly included European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Ferrari Chairman John Elkann, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Among South Korean business leaders, Chairman Lee Jae-yong had consistently attended the event since its inception but was absent for a period due to legal risks stemming from the state affairs corruption scandal. He resumed attending in 2022. Chairman Choi Tae-won attended the event for the first time in 2024. It is reported that both men were unable to attend the 2023 event due to schedules related to U.S.-South Korea tariff negotiations.
