[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] Hancom WITH(054920)will supply a facial recognition solution to NH Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance. Following its entry into the securities and international money transfer sectors, the company is expanding its reach into the insurance sector to further its push into the contactless financial services market.
Hancom WITH announced on the 28th that it has signed a contract with NH Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance to supply its facial recognition solution, “Hancom OS.” Hancom WITH began supplying Hancom OS to NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES in the second half of 2025 and to In9Pay, a company specializing in international money transfers, in the first half of this year. With this supply to NH Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance, the company is expanding its facial recognition business across the entire spectrum of contactless financial services, including securities, insurance, and international money transfers.
Hancom OS is a facial recognition and anti-spoofing solution designed for remote identity verification, used to confirm a user’s identity when accessing financial services such as remote account opening or money transfers. It verifies the user’s identity by comparing a real-time photo or video of the user’s face captured on a smartphone with the photo on their ID card.
Recently, attacks aimed at circumventing facial authentication by exploiting image synthesis using generative artificial intelligence (AI), deepfake videos, and 3D masks have become increasingly sophisticated, highlighting the growing importance of facial forgery detection technology.
Hancom OS has obtained “iBeta PAD Level 2” certification, which evaluates facial forgery detection performance. It has also passed evaluations by domestic and international organizations, including the RIVTD Liveness and PAD assessments and the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute’s performance evaluation for distributed biometric information management.
According to Hancom WITH, Hancom OS is currently the only domestic facial authentication solution to have obtained iBeta PAD Level 2 certification.
Hancom OS employs a passive liveness detection method that determines whether the subject is a real person during the capture process without requiring the user to perform specific actions, such as blinking or turning their head. This approach maintains user convenience while countering forgery attacks using photos and videos.
Hancom WITH verified the technology’s detection performance by conducting tests with its clients under various forgery and counterfeiting conditions, including printed facial photos, paper masks, 3D masks, digital photos, and videos. The company explained that it has demonstrated its ability to respond to forgery and counterfeiting scenarios that could occur in actual financial services.
Song Sang-yeop, CEO of Hancom WITH, stated, “Since reports emerged late last year of cases where printed facial photos were used to bypass facial authentication on some financial apps, we have received a steady stream of inquiries from clients in the financial sector regarding security and safety.” He added, “Through technical validation with our clients and our own internal testing, Hancom OS has confirmed its detection performance and technical stability against various forgery and counterfeiting attacks, including printed photos.”
He continued, “Based on our facial forgery prevention technology, which has been objectively verified both domestically and internationally, we will work to enhance both the security and user convenience of remote financial services.”
