Mexico is considered one of the largest health supplement markets in the Central and South American region. In particular, according to 2024 statistics from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the prevalence of diabetes among Mexican adults (ages 20–79) reaches approximately 16.4%, classifying the region as one with a very high unmet need for blood sugar management globally.

Yuhan Corporation signed a long-term supply contract worth approximately 13 billion won over five years with its local partner in Mexico in 2024. Subsequently, it successfully completed the official product registration process in 2025 without any setbacks.

The two companies are implementing a systematic and comprehensive marketing strategy that includes local clinical trials. Their plan is to rapidly increase market share by simultaneously targeting major online shopping platforms, brick-and-mortar pharmacies, and distribution channels across Mexico.

Dangkyu-Rak is a functional probiotic with blood glucose-regulating properties that has received individual recognition, using the “Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HAC01” strain—developed after more than a decade of meticulous research—as its main ingredient. The HAC01 strain was the first in Korea to receive official recognition from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its functionality in “helping to reduce postprandial blood glucose levels.”

Human clinical trial results also demonstrated that the group that consumed Dangkyu-Rak for eight weeks showed statistically significant reductions in hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose levels.
