SamsungElectroMechanics announced on the 30th that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year was 440.4 billion won, a 106.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Compared to the previous quarter, it rose by 57.0%.

Revenue reached 3.4572 trillion won, up 24.2% year-over-year and 7.7% quarter-over-quarter. Net income stood at 328.3 billion won, a 139.2% increase from the same period last year. This represents a 29.9% increase from the previous quarter (252.7 billion won). According to financial information provider FnGuide Inc., the consensus forecast for SamsungElectroMechanics’ second-quarter earnings was 3.3162 trillion won in revenue and 406.1 billion won in operating profit.

The increase in revenue was driven by the Components division. The Components division’s second-quarter revenue reached 1.6494 trillion won, up 29% year-over-year and 17% quarter-over-quarter. It accounted for 48% of total revenue. The company attributed this strong performance to revenue growth in MLCCs for data centers—including AI servers, networks, and power systems—as well as expanded revenue in the automotive electronics sector driven by advancements in autonomous driving and rising demand for eco-friendly vehicles (xEVs).

The Package Solutions and Optical Solutions divisions accounted for 22% and 30% of total revenue, respectively. While revenue increased by 37% and 10% year-over-year, the Optical Solutions division saw a 4% decline compared to the previous quarter. SamsungElectroMechanics reported that while revenue declined slightly due to the seasonal off-peak period, revenue in the automotive sector increased thanks to expanded supply of specialized products to major domestic and international customers.

SamsungElectroMechanics stated, “Performance improved due to expanded sales of MLCCs for data centers—including AI servers and networks—and the automotive sector, as well as increased supply of high-value-added semiconductor substrates (FCBGA) and automotive components related to ADAS and autonomous driving to major global Big Tech clients,” and forecast that strong demand would continue in the second half of the year.

Accordingly, SamsungElectroMechanics stated, “We plan to boost sales by ramping up mass production of high-performance substrates for new AI accelerators and server CPUs, and by expanding the supply of high-performance automotive camera modules,” adding, “We have signed long-term MLCC supply contracts with about 10 customers, including top-tier hyperscalers and major semiconductor companies.”
