The song was used as the opening theme for “Neon Genesis Evangelion” and has enjoyed steady popularity in Korea as well. The production of this Korean-language remake is part of the “J-Pop Remake” project, in which K-Pop artists reinterpret and perform classic J-Pop songs. Singer and TV personality Gangnam is the project’s producer, and “Banquet Song,” performed by Taeyeon, was released as the first track last month. SHgold Networks expressed high hopes for the track, stating, “Han Roro has reinterpreted ‘The Cruel Angel’s Thesis’ in her own unique style, showcasing her signature delicate tone and profound emotional depth.”
