NEXTBIOMEDICAL CO., LTD. announced on the 4th that the results of a study on the effects of Nexpowder™ on post-endoscopic coagulation syndrome (PECS) occurring after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of the colon were published in the prestigious international journal *Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology*.

The paper was published under the title “Effect of NexPowder on Reducing Post-Endoscopic Coagulation Syndrome Following ESD for Proximal Colonic Lesions: A Retrospective Multicenter Study.” Post-endoscopic coagulation syndrome is a common complication that causes abdominal pain, fever, and elevated inflammatory markers after the mucosa is removed during ESD procedures for colorectal polyps or colorectal cancer.

The research team conducted a clinical trial involving 75 patients undergoing colorectal ESD procedures at multiple institutions in South Korea who were classified as high-risk for post-ESD coagulation syndrome (PECS). Among them, NexPowder was applied to the procedure site in 35 patients (46.7%), while the remaining 40 patients (53.3%) were assigned to the control group for comparative analysis of outcomes.

The results showed that PECS occurred in 9 of the total patients. The PECS incidence rate in the NexPowder application group was only 2.9%, a statistically significantly lower figure compared to the 20.0% incidence rate in the control group.

The research team assessed this as “clinical evidence proving that NexPowder application acts as a physical barrier to protect mucosal defects occurring after ESD procedures, thereby preventing tissue damage and significantly reducing the incidence of PECS.”

This journal publication represents an achievement in verifying the clinical utility of NexPowder from multiple perspectives. Previously, in May, a South Korean research team presented the results of a prospective randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) on NexPowder’s efficacy against PECS during an Oral Plenary session at the American Gastroenterological Association (DDW 2026), the world’s largest gastroenterology conference, drawing attention from the global medical community.

NEXTBIOMEDICAL CO., LTD. is solidifying NexPowder’s academic standing by successively completing clinical trials with different designs, including prospective clinical trials and retrospective multicenter studies.
