Education Sector Returns to Profit; Expanding into New Businesses via Japanese Payment Services
[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] Electronic payment (PG) company KGINICIS CO.,LTD.(035600)continued to post double-digit earnings growth in the second quarter, driven by growth in its core payment business and rental business.
KGINICIS CO.,LTD. announced in a regulatory filing on the 5th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 371.8 billion won and operating profit of 28.6 billion won for the second quarter of this year. Compared to the same period last year, revenue increased by 15.0% and operating profit by 15.1%.
On a non-consolidated basis, the company reported revenue of 197.6 billion won and operating profit of 11.8 billion won. These figures represent increases of 18.4% and 8.9%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The improvement in performance stems from the company’s core payment gateway (PG) business, which continued to see stable growth in transaction volume, particularly among large merchants. The rental business also expanded its reach from individual customers to corporate (B2B) customers, achieving its highest quarterly transaction volume on record.
Consolidated subsidiaries also posted strong results. KG Financial, which operates a mobile payment business, saw double-digit growth in both revenue and operating profit, driven by an expansion in payment transactions. The F&F and media divisions also continued to grow, and the education affiliate KG Eduwon successfully returned to profitability for the quarter.
KGINICIS CO.,LTD. plans to accelerate efforts to secure new revenue streams in addition to its existing payment business. The strategy is to diversify its revenue base by expanding next-generation businesses, including overseas payment services and the recently patented Japanese payment service.
A company official stated, “We achieved stable results as our core payment and rental businesses, along with the performance of our affiliates, grew evenly,” adding, “We will strengthen the foundation for sustainable growth by fostering new businesses, such as the Japanese payment service, and diversifying our business portfolio.”
