SamsungElectronics took the top spot with a 23% share of shipments. Apple ranked second with 21%. In the first quarter, Apple had held the top spot with a 21% share of shipments, while SamsungElectronics ranked second with 20%.
SamsungElectronics’ second-quarter shipments increased by 9% year-over-year. By region, shipments in the Middle East and Africa rose significantly, and the company also posted double-digit growth in North America.
In terms of revenue, Apple recorded a 49% revenue share in the second quarter, marking its highest-ever figure for that quarter. During the same period, Apple’s revenue increased by 22% year-over-year, while shipments and average selling price rose by 13% and 8%, respectively.
SamsungElectronics maintained its second-place position behind Apple with a revenue share of 16%. Like its shipment volume, its second-quarter revenue also increased by 9% year-over-year.
In contrast, Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo were impacted by declining shipment volumes and rising cost pressures.
Xiaomi recorded the sharpest decline in shipments among the top five brands. Second-quarter shipments fell 26% year-over-year, and revenue also dropped by 17%. The average selling price rose by 13%.
OPPO and Vivo also saw their average selling prices rise by 9% and 13%, respectively, but their revenue fell by 10% and 11%, respectively.
Silpi Jain, a principal analyst at Counterpoint Research, said, “The global smartphone market has now entered a phase where value—rather than volume—is the key driver of growth,” adding, “Rising component prices are accelerating this shift.”
