[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] Comedian Kim Jeong-ryeol reveals the behind-the-scenes story of how he became a “Gangnam building owner.”
Episode 37 of MBN’s “Kim Ju-ha’s Day & Night,” set to air on the 8th, will feature Kim Jeong-ryeol and Hwang Gi-soon. Kim Jeong-ryeol is a “well-known wealthy individual” who owns two buildings. He plans to candidly share his secrets to real estate investment. Kim Jeong-ryeol says, “I used to always think, ‘Once I make money, I’ll buy land and a house.’” He explains that he gradually bought farmland and miscellaneous plots across the country as he earned money, but after realizing they wouldn’t generate immediate rental income, he sold the land to purchase his first building. Through repeated cycles of buying and selling buildings, Kim Jung-ryeol has now become a “Gangnam building owner.” Above all, regarding the rumor that “during his heyday, he earned 100 million won a day and invested it in real estate,” Kim Jeong-ryeol revealed the truth, stating, “I didn’t earn 100 million won a day—I earned 100 million won.” He explains that at the time, playing the highly popular “Master Jeong-ryeol” character, he recorded voice messages for a paid phone fortune-telling service. After spending the entire day recording daily and monthly horoscopes for each zodiac sign, he received 100 million won as payment. Kim Jeong-ryeol surprised everyone on set by revealing that he invested that entire 100 million won into real estate as well. Kim Jeong-ryeol, who debuted in 1981 as part of MBC’s first class of openly recruited comedians, gained immense popularity through shows such as “Laugh and Good Fortune Will Come,” “Long Live Youth,” “March of Youth,” and “Sunday, Sunday Night.” His catchphrase, “Sung-guri Dang-dang,” has become his trademark. MBN’s issue-maker talk show “Kim Ju-ha’s Day & Night” airs every Saturday at 9:40 p.m.
