SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “Chaebol X Detective 2,” which premiered on the 7th, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 6.1% (peaking at 6.9%, according to Nielsen Korea), surpassing the first-episode rating of Season 1 (5.8%). While maintaining the lighthearted atmosphere of Season 1, the series captivated viewers with larger-scale cases and a fast-paced narrative.
In the first episode, the story kicked off in earnest when chaebol detective Jin Yi-su (Ahn Bo-hyun) became the target of a mysterious series of bombings. Joo Hye-ra appeared as the so-called “devil instructor” who had put Jin Yi-su through grueling training during their days at the police academy, creating both tension and comedic chemistry. The newly established dynamic between Ahn Bo-hyun and Jung Eun-chae has emerged as a key point of interest for future episodes.
Toward the end of the episode, a massive time bomb was discovered in the vehicle Jin Yi-su was riding in, and the tension reached its peak as he drove the car toward the Han River pier to prevent the explosion. Curiosity surrounding the culprit’s identity and the purpose of the series of terrorist attacks also intensified.
“Chaebol X Detective 2” is receiving praise for expanding its scope by adding a major terrorist incident and action sequences to the lighthearted investigative drama atmosphere unique to Season 1.
