[Edaily Reporter KIM SAE-MI ] JEIL PHARM(271980)is investing 24.9 billion won to expand production facilities at its Baekam Plant in Yongin, thereby increasing its production capacity for solid oral dosage forms by 71% compared to current levels.
JEIL PHARM announced on the 22nd that it has completed the expansion of the solid dosage form building at its Baekam Plant in Baekam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, and has received a completion permit.
A total of 24.9 billion won was invested in this expansion, covering construction costs, production equipment, design and supervision, and utility facilities. JEIL PHARM carried out the expansion of its production facilities over approximately two years, beginning with conceptual design in November 2024.
The new production facility, spanning a total of 4,461 square meters (approximately 1,350 pyeong), was constructed on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Baekam Plant. The company expanded facilities for weighing, mixing, granulation, tableting, coating, sorting, and packaging to support the production of solid oral dosage forms such as tablets and capsules. Once the production equipment is fully installed, the production capacity for solid oral dosage forms is expected to increase by 71% compared to current levels.
This expansion is intended to meet production demand driven by increased sales of the company’s own products, while also securing the production capacity needed for future projects, such as new drugs and exports. JEIL PHARM’s in-house developed new drug, “Zacubo,” recorded consolidated sales of 64.5 billion won in the first half of this year, a 152% increase compared to the same period last year.
JEIL PHARM has implemented a Building Management System (BMS) and a Warehouse Management System (WMS) in the new facility. The company plans to increase productivity and yield while reducing manufacturing costs through the new production facilities and automation systems.
The company has also established production and quality control facilities that comply with domestic and international Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Qualification assessments for manufacturing support facilities and newly introduced equipment are currently underway and are scheduled to be completed by December. Product-specific validation and license amendment procedures will begin in the first quarter of next year.
A JEIL PHARM official stated, “This expansion of the Baekam Plant is an investment aimed at proactively securing production capacity, taking into account not only current production demand but also future sales growth and the expansion of new businesses such as new drugs and exports,” adding, “Based on our expanded production capacity and automated infrastructure, we will enhance production efficiency and cost competitiveness while strengthening our ability to ensure a stable supply.”
