[Edaily Reporter Yun Junghoon ]KTCorporation(030200)reported that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year fell by more than 30% year-over-year. This is largely attributed to a base effect resulting from the large real estate sales profits recorded last year. However, compared to the previous quarter, profitability improved, indicating a recovery trend.

KTCorporation announced in a regulatory filing on the 12th that it recorded preliminary consolidated results for the second quarter of 2026, with revenue of 6.6799 trillion won and operating profit of 648.3 billion won.

KTCorporation’s second-quarter revenue (-10.1%), operating profit (-36.1%), and net income (-34.5%) all decreased year-over-year. This is due to the base effect resulting from the record-high operating profit (1.0148 trillion won) recorded in the second quarter of last year, which was driven by large-scale one-time real estate sales gains, such as the development of the Gangbuk Headquarters site (Lotte Eastpol sales).

Compared to the previous quarter (Q1 2026), revenue decreased slightly by 1.5%, but operating profit increased by 34.3% and net income rose by 23.7%, indicating a significant improvement in profitability metrics.

Cumulative revenue for the first half of 2026 was 13.4583 trillion won, and cumulative operating profit was 1.1310 trillion won, representing year-over-year decreases of 5.7% and 33.6%, respectively.

KTCorporation explained, “The decline in key financial indicators for the second quarter of 2026 is due to the base effect resulting from one-time gains on property sales recorded in the same period of the previous year.”
