[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] KNS CO., LTD(432470), a company specializing in unmanned automation for high-tech industries, achieved its best-ever first-half results since its founding, driven by growing demand for 4680 (46-pi) cylindrical batteries and the expansion of the global physical AI market. (Photo = KNS CO., LTD) KNS CO., LTD announced on the 12th via a regulatory filing that its consolidated operating profit for the first half of this year surged 70.1% year-over-year to 2.952 billion won. During the same period, revenue increased by 14.3% to 30.415 billion won, and net income stood at 775 million won, maintaining a profitable trend. This was driven by the full-scale results from its next-generation growth engines: 46-pai cylindrical batteries and the physical AI and robotics sectors. This earnings growth was driven by its Vietnamese subsidiary (KNS VINA). The Vietnamese subsidiary posted first-half revenue of 8.3 billion won and operating profit of 1.0 billion won, surging 44.9% and 793%, respectively, compared to the previous year. Its operating profit margin rose to 11.8%, establishing it as a core profit generator for the entire group. Previously, the Vietnamese subsidiary secured a long-term OEM contract with a global Japanese robotics company and, earlier this year, received an order for 280 industrial robots from a Tier 1 vendor of a global semiconductor company. Mass production has also begun for the autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) developed in collaboration with a smart factory company. KNS CO., LTD plans to double the production capacity (CAPA) of its Vietnamese subsidiary through future factory expansions and develop it into a global hub for physical AI. Headquarters (on a standalone basis) reported revenue of 15.1 billion won, up 13.5% year-over-year, and operating profit of approximately 900 million won, up 54%. Rechargeable batteries accounted for 90% of headquarters revenue, with automated equipment for 46-pai cylindrical batteries driving growth. The use of 46-pai batteries is expanding across a wide range of Chonbang industries, including the recovering electric vehicle market, AI data centers, energy storage systems (ESS), and humanoid robots. The order backlog is also substantial. Cumulative new orders for the first half of the year, including those from subsidiaries, totaled 46 billion won, already surpassing last year’s annual revenue. As of June, the order backlog stood at approximately 34 billion won, and most of this is expected to be recognized as revenue within the year. A KNS CO., LTD official stated, “Our first-half results are tangible proof of the full-scale launch of our robotics business at our Vietnam subsidiary and the growing demand for 46-phi batteries,” adding, “Since we have already secured new orders exceeding last year’s annual revenue, we will build on our technological competitiveness to strengthen our annual growth momentum.”
