[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] #CMES Robotics recorded its highest-ever first-half revenue since its founding, driven by repeat orders from major clients.

CMES Robotics announced on the 13th that it posted consolidated revenue of 9.52 billion won in the first half of this year. This represents an increase of approximately 101% compared to the 4.73 billion won recorded in the same period last year.

Gross profit stood at 1.92 billion won, an increase of approximately 95% from the 980 million won recorded in the same period last year. The company surpassed last year’s full-year gross profit of 1.75 billion won in just the first half of this year.

This growth was driven by repeat orders from major clients. CMES Robotics signed a series of contracts in May, June, and July with a global sports brand manufacturer to supply robotic automation equipment, totaling 5.29 billion won in May, 2.28 billion won in June, and 2.48 billion won in July.

Contracts secured from this single client over the three-month period totaled 10.05 billion won, accounting for approximately 77% of last year’s annual revenue of 13.06 billion won. In May, the company also signed a 6.91 billion won contract with Coupang Fulfillment Services to install logistics robot automation solutions.

This year’s order backlog stands at 22.5 billion won, an increase of approximately 2.4 times compared to the previous year. The company anticipates that if the current trend in order intake continues through the second half of the year, annual revenue for this year could reach a record high since its founding.

Profitability metrics showed some improvement. The cost of sales ratio for the first half of the year was 79.9%, a slight increase from 79.3% in the same period last year. The selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) expense ratio decreased by approximately 89 percentage points during the same period, from 213.0% to 124.2%.

However, due to increases in R&D expenses and sales warranty costs, SG&A expenses rose to 11.82 billion won, an increase of about 17% from 10.08 billion won in the same period last year. The operating loss for the first half of the year was 9.91 billion won, widening from 9.1 billion won in the same period last year. The operating loss ratio improved from -192.3% to -104.1%.

CMES Robotics is accelerating efforts to secure physical artificial intelligence (AI) technology alongside the expansion of its robotic automation business. Following its collaboration with ROBOTIS last year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Rainbow Robotics in June of this year and is pursuing the development of humanoid robots for deployment in industrial settings.

Last month, the company also signed an MOU with NC AI. The plan is to utilize robot data accumulated in industrial settings to enhance NC AI’s world model and CMES Robotics’ Vision Foundation Model (VFM) and Robot Foundation Model (RFM), and to develop next-generation robotics solutions.

CMES Robotics official stated, “We will continue to improve profitability by expanding our business scale and optimizing our cost structure, while simultaneously strengthening our competitiveness in physical AI technology through collaboration with NC AI, Rainbow Robotics, and ROBOTIS.”
