According to business circles on the 13th, President Yoon was recently appointed as head of SK hynix’s Global Growth Task Force and has been serving in that role since late July. It is reported that President Yoon will continue to serve as President of the SK Supex Pursuit Council while concurrently heading the task force.

Born in 1974, President Yoon has held positions at SK C&C (now SK AX) and SKTelecom, and previously served as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of SKSQUARE and President of SK AX. Since October of last year, he has served as President of the SK Supex Pursuit Council, the group’s control tower, leading the coordination of the group’s overall AX strategy and business operations.

Business circles are linking this personnel move to SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won’s vision to expand global AI businesses centered on SK hynix. The strategy is to utilize SK hynix not merely as a memory supplier but as a key pillar for expanding the business scope across the entire AI infrastructure.

Earlier, in June, Chairman Choi announced plans to invest approximately 1,000 trillion won in AI data center projects by 2035, in conjunction with the government’s three major mega-projects.

Accordingly, the Global Growth Task Force—composed of about 10 SK hynix TL (Technical Leader)-level personnel—is expected to pool SK hynix’s financial resources and the capabilities of group affiliates to identify new global AI business opportunities.
