LG Display announced on the 14th that it will begin full-scale operations of the Technology Academy to foster technical talent and strengthen cross-organizational collaboration.

The Technology Academy is a platform that systematizes the experience and know-how accumulated in R&D and manufacturing/production into organizational-level technical assets. Its purpose is to support employees in developing the technical competencies required for their roles in a step-by-step manner, thereby linking individual growth to the company’s technological competitiveness.

LG Display initiated the establishment of this platform based on the belief that achieving continuous innovation in high-tech industries requires close collaboration between the R&D division and the manufacturing and production sites, as well as the systematic accumulation and sharing of technical capabilities.

The Technology Academy operates through a total of nine organizational “colleges”—five in the R&D division and four in the manufacturing and production division. Each college provides a growth roadmap detailing job-specific work experience, required competencies, and development directions, as well as an integrated curriculum tailored to different levels of expertise.

Programs tailored to organizational characteristics—such as best-practice sharing sessions, expert lectures, and mentoring—are also offered. The company plans to support employees in selecting training that aligns with their roles and current competencies, enabling them to systematically build the necessary expertise.

The company has also introduced personalized growth support features utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI). The AI analyzes individual HR data to automatically generate growth reports and provides guidance on competency development and personalized training based on role-specific growth roadmaps.

For leaders, the system provides insights and interview guidelines necessary for developing the organization and its members. This enables employees to easily identify their growth paths, while leaders can support training and growth by considering individual competencies and goals.

Networking features have also been established to facilitate cross-organizational technology exchange and collaboration. By providing information on the activities and areas of expertise of internal technical expert groups—such as “Research and Expert Committee Members” and “Technology Sponsors”—the company ensures that employees can receive technical advice and support from experts in their required fields.

LG Display plans to expand an organizational culture where technical talent can immerse themselves in their work and receive recognition for their technical challenges and achievements. The goal is to foster innovation on the front lines and strengthen competitiveness in future display technologies.

Lee Ki-sang, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) at LG Display, stated, “Ultimately, differentiated technological competitiveness begins with people.” He added, “Through the Technology Academy, we will create an environment where employees can continuously grow and redouble our efforts to cultivate the technical talent that will drive future growth.”
